Answer: After two days of working, AMM 35 concluded successfully and adopted a joint communique.

Agreements of the meeting focussed on 3 issues, namely promoting regional integration, consolidating peace, stability and security and strenghthening unity in ASEAN.

FM Nguyen Dy Nien address to the ninethARF

Bandar Seri Begawan, Aug. 1 (VNA) -- Regional peace and security have been threatened by among others terrorism, transnational crimes, and regional conflicts, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien has warned the ninth ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

Addressing the regional forum in Brunei on Wednesday, July 31, Minister Nien also spoke of environmental deterioration and epidemics, and the particularly negative impacts of the on-going process of globalisation, which has been widening the development gap between nations.

FM Nguyen Dy Nien calls for closer ASEAN+3 cooperation

Bandar Seri Begawan, July 31 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien has called on the three ASEAN dialogue partners in Northeast Asia to take an active part in the Development Cooperation Forum on the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) slated for in Jakarta on August 15-16.
"China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) should further help ASEAN countries, especially new members, in developing information technology, human resource and infrastructure facilities in order to facilitate their effective regional integration," FM. Nguyen Dy Nien said.

The third border markers between Vietnam and China


Ha Giang, July 26 (VNA) -- The border marker No. 261 on the borderline between Viet Nam and China was installed at a ceremony held at the Thanh Thuy national bordergate in Ha Giang province today, July 26.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Cong Phung, Director of the Foreign Ministry's Border Commission and Head of the governmental-level delegation for negotiations on the Sino-Vietnamese border.

The Chinese delegation to the ceremony was headed by He Ming-sheng, deputy head of Yunnan province's foreign affairs office.

VN strictly observes Int'l convention on civil, political rights


July 15 (VNA) -- Viet Nam has strictly exercised its commitments to the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, Deputy Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong has told the UN Human Rights Committee.

Speaking at the 75th session of the committee in Geneva last week, the Vietnamese official noted that Viet Nam has paid great attention to building a law-governed state, perfecting the legal framework, strengthening the effectiveness of institutions and carrying out necessary measures to ensure the exercise of human rights by the Vietnamese people.

Ordinance on the Most favored nation in foreign trade

Ha Noi, June 27 (VNA)-- Viet Nam's first ever ordinance on the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) and the National Treatment (NT) in foreign trade will come into force from Sept. 1 this year.

By applying these two basic principles of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in four key areas: commercial goods, commerical services, investment, and intellectual property, Viet Nam has made a significant step in its global integration.

Deputy PM praises international assistance

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam said that the assistance from international donors, World Bank and associations of businesses had helped Vietnam carry out socio-economic development strategies and plans as well as the strategy for reducing poverty and eradicating hunger.

Mr Cam was addressing the closing ceremony of the mid-term Consultative Group Meeting for Vietnam held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.
