Update by March 16 on Viet Nam's entry restriction to cope with the current COVID-19 outbreak
Update on restrictions of entry into Vietnam to cope with current COVID-19 pandemic:
1. (i) Viet Nam temporarily suspends entry into the country for all foreign nationals (tourists, passengers holding family visit/student/ordinary visas) coming from or passing through Schengen Area, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland within a 14-day period prior to their expected entry into Viet Nam; (ii) Vietnam temporarily suspends entry into the country for all foreign nationals holding on-arrival visas. (The above-mentioned restrictions shall be effective for 30 days, starting from 12:00 PM (noon) on March 15, 2020 (Vietnam local time) and are NOT APPLICABLE to passengers traveling to Vietnam for diplomatic and official purposes).
2. (i) Mandatory quarantine shall be applied for all travelers coming from or passing through Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, China, South Korea and Iran; (ii) Authorities in Vietnam shall provide domestic transportation and other arrangements for travelers subjected to mandatory quarantine.
3. Upon entry into Vietnam, foreign nationals who are expatriates, business managers, skilled workers shall be subjected to medical examination and required to take suitable medical precautions at their place of work and residence as deemed necessary.
4. Effective from March 16, 2020, all travelers arriving into and departing from Vietnam shall be required to wear face masks throughout the flight and upon their entry/exit. All individuals need to wear face masks at public places with large gatherings (shopping malls, airports, metro, bus, railway stations, other public transportation...).
5. (i) In view of the ongoing situation, in order to avoid risks of coronavirus infection while traveling by airplane, Vietnamese students abroad are recommended to remain at their current place of residence; (ii) Vietnamese students who wish to return to Vietnam shall be subjected to mandatory isolated quarantine for a 14-day period if they come from or pass through Schengen countries, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, China, South Korea, Iran, or have been in contact with sources of infection as shown in their travel history and/or medical declaration prior to entry into Vietnam./.
