Vietnam's upcoming accession to the World Trade Organization and its hosting of the APEC leader's meeting this fall are a testament to the energy and vitality of your country as it continues down its path of reform. The United States hopes to support this process and use the opportunity to open up a new chapter in the friendship between our nations. I look forward to meeting you when I visit Vietnam this fall. As I told your predeccesor, when he visited Washington in 2005, I fully support Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organization, and hope this can be completed as soon as possible.
