A letter to Ambassador

His Excellency Nguyen Tam Chien
Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the United States

Dear Mr. Ambassador:

My name is Carl L. Tendler and I live in New York City.

I am a regular visitor to Vietnam and I have been there six times in the last five years. I was not a Vietnam Veteran although I thought that the US had made a great mistake. I know your country and with the many problems your poor country has had, I certainly feel that Vietnam has improved its world image. I watched as the Vietnamese people gave Bill Clinton a warm welcome to Ho Chi Minh City. I had tears in my eyes watching Vietnamese families gather around President Clinton at the Binh Than Market. It was a very touching experience. If I were a US Senator I would give the Socialist Republic of Vietnam a thumbs up.

I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you of my feelings. I expect to visit Vietnam again in October.

Tam biet
