Deputy Prime Minister Dung receives U.S. Ambassador

Ha Noi, May 27 (VNA) - Viet Nam continues to cooperate with the US to boost fair cooperation for mutual benefit and mutual respect in the economic, commerical, cultural and educational fields and other issues of common concern, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said.

He told US Ambassador to Viet Nam Raymond F. Burghardt in Ha Noi on Tuesday afternoon that Viet Nam attaches importance to relations with the United States.

Deputy PM Dung stressed that the relations between Viet Nam and the US had seen encouraging results in recent years. The two countries reached a bilateral garment amd textile agreement and set up an education fund for Viet Nam.

While the two countries' relations are developing widely and deeply, there will arise new problems, he said, adding the two countries should solve these problems in a cooperative and constructive spirit, thus promptly preventing bad changes in bilateral relations.

Ambassador Burghardt said that he shared Deputy PM Dung's wish for building better bilateral relations between the two countries. This is also the US Government's wish, he added.

The American diplomat pledged to convey Deputy PM Dung's message to the US government during his upcoming return for business to the US. He expressed his wish to work for a brighter future of Viet Nam-US ties for the benefits and development of the two nations.
