Vietnamese contemporary fine arts exhibition opened in Washington D.C.

Among those present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, hosted by the Arts Club of Washington, were Vietnam 's Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong and many members of the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington D.C.

Leading defence official meets US ambassador

(VNA) Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted a reception for US Ambassador David B.Shear in Hanoi on Sept. 15.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperative contents in defence between the US and Vietnam before Vinh’s visit to the US .

The two sides affirmed that the results of bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries in the recent time were the foundation for future cooperation and looking towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation to further strengthen cooperative ties.

Vietnam’s exports to US up 20 percent

(VNA) Vietnam ’s exports to the US in the first seven months of this year earned more than 9.63 billion USD, a surge of 20.7 percent against the same period last year, according to the US International Trade Commission.

Among Vietnam ’s export items to the US , garments and textiles took the lead with 3.64 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 18 percent, followed by footwear with nearly 1.15 billion USD, up 24.5 percent, and wood products with 998.5 million USD, up 4 percent.

Foreign Minister meets US business delegation

(VNA) Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Sept. 6 received a visiting delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and representatives from its member.

The delegation was headed by USABC President Alexander Feldman and President of the council’s US-Vietnam Committee Stuart Dean, who were accompanied by representatives from nearly 40 large firms. This was the largest ever business delegation from the US to Vietnam.

The visit was aimed at studying the targets and priority policies of the new government in Vietnam.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong visits Kansas

(Embassy) August 22 - 24th, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong took a working visit to Kansas where the Vietnamese community of more than 40,000 people are living, working and studying.
Meeting with a number of the Vietnamese families there, the Ambassador gladly shared achievements the overseas Vietnamese gained and wished them have a good life. He asserted the Vietnamese Government’s policy of supporting them.

VN an increasingly important market for US

“ Vietnam is one of the markets we most want to do business with,” Sanchez said. “It is becoming an increasingly important place to market our goods and services.”

VN-US trade exceeds 10 billion USD in first half

(VNA)Vietnam now ranks 29 th among 233 trade partners of the US with bilateral trade reaching more than 10 billion USD in the first half of the year, a year-on-year rise of 21 percent, according to the US International Trade Commission.

The Southeast Asian nation posted an export value of almost 7.94 billion USD and an import value of 2.07 billion USD in the first six months of the year, year-on-year increases of 21.4 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

Vietnam considers US as leading partner

Vietnam-US AO group makes field trip

(VNA) The Vietnam-US Dialogue Group on Agent Orange/dioxin made a field trip to the heavily AO-contaminated province of Dong Nai province on August 17 as part of a survey for a project to build centres on reproductive health and rehabilitation.

The group was seeking funding for the construction of a reproductive health consultancy centre and a rehabilitation centre for AO/dioxin victims in Dong Nai province’s Dinh Quan district, said Dr Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, a group member.

Vietnam supports US’s APEC 2011 organisation

(VNA) Vietnam supports the US to successfully organise the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2011, said a Vietnamese diplomat.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong affirmed the country’s support during his recent working visit to Hawaii State where the summit will take place in mid-November this year.

Leaders from 21 APEC member economies are expected to take part in the summit, which will be chaired by US President Barack Obama.
