Congratulations on International Women's Day

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day March 8th, in the evening of March 4th, 2022 (Washington, D.C. time), Madam Tran Thi Bich Van, Spouse of the Ambassador of Viet Nam to the United States, held a gathering under the theme “Beauty and Elegance: A Woman’s power”. The event was held in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual participation from Ha Noi and Washington, D.C. of nearly 40 guests being Spouses of Ambassadors of Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and India to Viet Nam, Spouse of the newly appointed Ambassador of Viet Nam to Israel, women officials and spouses of officials of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Washington, D.C.

Speaking at the event, Madam Tran Thi Bich Van expressed her pleasure to provide a forum for sisters and friends in Ha Noi and Washington, D.C. in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sharing the view that women are having increasingly important role in their families and society, Madam Tran Thi Bich Van expressed her wish that women could find a balanced approach, giving time and space for their own amid the hectic and challenging days they go through. She believed that a woman’s joy and happiness would certainly be beneficial to her family and the community. Madam Bich Van also shared that she was happy and encouraged by the team of women officials and spouses of officials of the Embassy in Washington, D.C., who are all young, beautiful, and full of enthusiasm and vitality. She hoped that similar events would be held regularly for them to share, learn and support each other.

 


Designer Cao Minh Tien demonstrated how to perform silk scarves

 

At the get together under the theme “Beauty and Elegance: A woman’s power”, designer Cao Minh Tien, teacher at Ha Noi University of Industrial Fine Arts, demonstrated to guests skills and tips in choosing outfits, particularly matching silk scarves and Vietnamese traditional Ao dai, and doing makeup for different events. In Ha Noi, Spouses of Ambassadors of ASEAN countries and India were introduced to the Ao dai – the national costume of Vietnamese women, and how to choose and style silk scarves to highlight a woman’s beauty.

Madam Tran Thi Bich Van’s initiative was appreciated by guests who actively participated throughout the event and anticipated other opportunities in the future.
