Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc attends memorial ceremonies in honor of Senator John Sidney McCain III

 

On behalf of Vietnamese Government, Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc attended the Capitol Rotunda Ceremony (August 31) and the National Cathedral Memorial (September 1) in honor of Senator John Sidney McCain III (R-AZ) in Washington D.C.

 

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on August 27 sent messages of condolences to the family of Senator John Sidney McCain III and leaders of the US Senate. On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh cabled condolences to the family of Senator McCain and signed in the condolence book in commemoration of the senator at the US Embassy in Viet Nam.

 

In interviews with Vietnamese reporters, Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc said Senator McCain had a very special position in the history of the Viet Nam - US relationship. The senator was a symbol of the Viet Nam - US reconciliation process, a friend of Viet Nam and had been at the forefront in enhancement of Viet Nam-US cooperation, he added. The Ambassador believed that with the support of the Republican and Democratic Parties in the US Congress, the Viet Nam - US Comprehensive Partnership would continue thriving for the benefits of the two peoples./.
