Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc meets Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Patrick Murphy
On July 27, Appointed Ambassador of Viet Nam to the US Ha Kim Ngoc had a meeting with Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Patrick Murphy at the State Department.
At the meeting, Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Patrick Murphy welcomed Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc and committed to closely cooperate with the Ambassador to further strengthen the US – Viet Nam Comprehensive Partnership. Mr. Murphy reaffirmed the significance of the bilateral relations, which reflected in visits of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Viet Nam, their very first visits to the Southeast Asia. Mr. Murphy also reiterated the US commitments to the Strategic Partnership with ASEAN for maintaining the rule-based order in the region.
Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc highly appreciated the contributions of Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Patrick Murphy, former Acting Assistant Secretary of State Susan Thornton, and the State Department to maintain momentum of the bilateral relations. Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc affirmed that 2017 was a very successful year in the Viet Nam – US relations with two high-level visits by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (May 2017) and President Donald Trump (November 2017). Viet Nam attaches great importance to the Viet Nam – US Comprehensive Partnership and wanted to further strengthen the relations, both bilateral and multilateral. The Ambassador suggested that the two sides should continue their goodwill and coordinate to settle unsolved issues in the interest of the two peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
