Vietnamese Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung visited US

Vietnam expects to conclude negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement soon, said Vietnamese Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung.

At a meeting with US Treasure Secretary Jacob Lew in Washington on March 10, the minister said the pact must ensure interests of participating parties, including Vietnam and the US.

Both ministers considered the agreement an important step to boost economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries and its country members in general.

Speaking highly of achievements in cooperation between the Vietnam Ministry of Finance and the US Department of Treasury over the past years, the two ministers agreed to further strengthen the collaboration, especially in customs, tax and budget management, thus spurring each country’s economic growth.

Jacob Lew expressed his interest in Vietnam’s economy, describing the restructuring of State-owned enterprises in Vietnam as a major task in renovating the country’s growth model.

Also the same day, Minister Dung held talks with US Trade Representative Michael Froman and senior leaders of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
