Beauty Pageant for Vietnam Diaspora Launched
A group of Vietnamese media outlets and a tourism company plan to bring together outstanding beauties of Vietnamese descent living around the world for a beauty pageant.
Organized by Thanh Nien, Tien Phong newspaper, and Vietnamese Television newspaper, and Vinpearl Tourism and Trade Stock Company, the Global Vietnamese pageant appealed Thursday to daughters and granddaughters of Vietnamese people who can speak Vietnamese.
They should be aged 18-27, single and without children, educated beyond high school level, over 1.6m tall, and never have had cosmetic surgery or sex change.
Winners and runners-up beauty pageants at all levels will get automatic entry into the second round.
The winner will get a cash prize of US$5,000 plus a tour of the country, and the first-runner-up, and the second-runner-up will get $3,000 and $2,000.
Winners of other titles will get US$1,000 each.
Applications for the pageant, aimed at reminding the younger generations of their cultural roots, can be sent until August 15.
