VIETNAM RELIGION-RELATED LAW CONFERENCE OPENS IN HANOI

chris.jpgA two-day conference opened in Hanoi on May 4 to help over 200 religious dignitaries across the country study the State's policy and legal stipulations governing religious practices.

The conference aims to provide dignitaries of various religions in Vietnam with basic legal  understanding so that they can pass them on to other people in their faith communities to facilitate timely adjustments in compliance with the law, said Permanent Vice Chairman Nguyen The Doanh of the Government's Committee for Religious Affairs.

He highlighted that religious communities play a valuable role in the formation of national solidarity and that the State has always respected their legitimate rights to practice. Legal understanding will be an effective tool to protect their rights, he said.
