Leading U.S. Entrepreneurs Show Interest in HCMC
A delegation of leading American businesses expressed their wishes to invest in Ho Chi Minh City during a survey trip to Vietnam July 22 to 24.
Representatives from American Dye Golf Corporation, Salim Group, Dallas Pension and Consult Fund all showed serious intentions in carrying out projects in the city, according to Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Hai.
Dye Golf Chairman Andy Dye III said his corporation intended to build a golf course, a commercial center, exclusive hotels, apartment buildings and add world-class quality to the city’s Bason shipping firm.
“Vietnam is our strategic investment site,” said the chairman of Indonesian Salim Group in the U.S., adding it was high time for Americans to do business in Vietnam.
The Americans also showed special interest in Mr Hai’s detailed plans on the Thu Thiem Peninsula project along the Saigon River.
The businesses said they wanted to join all aspects of the project’s development from design and construction to expansion.
HCMC is also calling for investment in hi-tech and infrastructural transport facilities to develop city buses, metros and monorails, Mr. Hai stressed.
We’ve succeeded in finding land to accommodate these facilities, he said, suggesting foreign entrepreneurs could invest in transport facilities first and exchange them for certain plots of land for their projects.
The entrepreneurs also decided to stay one more day in HCMC for detailed discussions with the city’s Tourism, Planning and Investment and Architectural Planning Departments about their projects’ feasibility.
