Vietnam Airlines' 10-year operation reviewed

Ha Noi, Jan. 2 (VNA) - The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, marked its 10th anniversary in Ha Noi on Friday afternoon.

Vietnam Airlines has successfully fulfilled its targets despite many difficulties and challenges over the past decade. The number of passengers flying with Vietnam Airlines rose from 1.1 million in 1993 to more than 4 million last year while its cargoes increased from 13,000 tonnes to 74,000 tonnes over the same period. Its ten-year turnover reached 75,442 billion VND or an annual increase of 26 percent. At present, Vietnam Airlines has a fleet of 34 modern aeroplanes, including Boeing, Airbus, ATR and Fokker.

On the occasion, Vice President Truong My Hoa presented the Independence Order, third class, to Vietnam Airlines.

The national flag carrier has set a target of carrying 5 million passengers this year, including 2.4 million foreigners, to obtain an annual growth rate of between 20-22 percent.
