HCM City, June 11 (VNA)-The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporter and Processor (VASEP) will make efforts to tightly control antibiotic residue in aquatic products, settle trade disputes and boost trade promotion activities in the near future.

The announcement was made by VASEP's member units at its national conference held in HCM City today.

At the conference, Minister of Fisheries Ta Quang Ngoc urged the association's members to boost their solidarity for low production cost, high product quality and effective business operation in order to raise the competitiveness of Viet Nam's aquatic product exports in the world and regional markets.

VASEP's export earnings make up 70 percent of the country's total aquatic product export value that reached a record 2.022 billion USD in 2002 against 817 million USD in 1998.
