General Secretary stressed unified leadership
Ha Noi, July 15 (VNA) -- General Secretary Nong Duc Manh of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPV CC) has affirmed important contributions made by the Party's organisational and personnel work to the national renewal process.
Addressing the closing session of the CPV CC's sixth plenum in Ha Noi on Monday he said the important renewal achievements recorded by Viet Nam were largely a result of the Party's effective organisational and personnel work, all the more remarkable considering recent complicated developments in the country and the world.
The work was very significant, he said, asking for better implementation of the principle that the Party exercises its unified leadership in organisational and personnel work.
Mr. Manh stressed that in its organisational work the Party should focus on building, consolidating and developing the strength of the whole political system under its leadership while regularly implementing the Party building and rectification work. Promoting the strength of the political system, including the Party organisation, the State apparatus, the Fatherland Front and mass organisations, is essential to bringing into full play the people's right to mastery, Mr.Manh noted.
In regard to the punishment of two members of the Party Central Committee, the Party leader said that the session took place in a frank and democratic atmosphere. All responsible agencies and members of the Party Central Committee took full responsibility to make a thorough analysis of the wrongdoings of the two members to ensure that due punishment was given to them in line with the Party discipline.
Mr.Manh stressed that degraded officials had to pay a high price for losing their political and moral values in the fight against selfishness and opportunism. Some officials, he said, had overcome numerous sufferings and risked their lives during the past wars of resistance, but have succumbed to the temptation of illegal money and other things in life, adopted a bureaucratic working style and a degraded life style and even lent a helping hand to criminals. Those officials have violated the Party discipline and State laws, thus causing indignation among the people, and marring the Party and State's prestige and honour, the Party leader said in conclusion.--Enditem
