Program to develop training system in Vietnam

Ha Noi, Apr. 20 (VNA) -- The Prime Minister has approved a plan to develop the vocational training system both quantitatively and qualitatively for the 2002-2010 period.

In order to contribute to the national industrialisation and modernisation programme, the plan aims to increase the proportion of trained and skilled workers in the country's workforce.

Under the plan, the State will invest in upgrading infrastructure facilities for vocational training and renewing teaching methods. High-quality vocational schools will be set up, particularly for industrial zone development.

The State has also encouraged efforts to develop non-State vocational training establishments to ensure that these establishments can provide training for about 20 percent and 84 percent of students attending long-term and short-term vocational training nationwide, respectively, by 2005; and for 30 percent and 88 percent of long- and short-term trainees by 2010.--VNA
