Trade Ministry's new regulations on export rewards


Ha Noi, Jan. 16 (VNA) -- The Trade Ministry has issued new regulations on export rewards, to take effect on Jan. 17 this year.

Under the regulations, rewards will be given to a domestically-made product or category of goods which is exported for the first time with an export turnover of more than USD 100,000 a year. For mountainous and island provinces the figure is USD 50,000.

Export items recording year-on-year increases of 20 percent, or more than USD 400,000 in export revenue, and 15 percent or more than USD 200,000, for mountainous and island areas, will be rewarded.

Other export items covered by the regulations include high-quality export items which win medals at international exhibitions and fairs or obtain quality certificates from international organisations; for-export processed products which are made of at least 60 percent domestic materials or involve intensive labour with an annual export turnover of more than USD 10 million for fine art and handicraft items, agro-forestry and aquatic produce, garments and footwear and more than USD 3 million for vegetables, fruit and pork.

Non-quota export items with an annual export value of more than USD 50 million will also be rewarded.

Viet Nam recorded an export turnover of USD 15.1 billion in 2001, a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percent.--VNA
