IT competition for young people


Ha Noi, July 30 (VNA) -- The seventh national non-professional information technology (IT) competition for young people closed in Ha Noi today, July 30, with Tran Dinh Phuong Ngon winning the special prize.

Ngon, a fourth grader from Ho Chi Minh City recorded the maximum mark of 100/100.

Nine students won first prizes while 93 others received second, third, and consolation prizes.

The Ministry of Education and Training granted two scholarships to the two best secondary school students at a contest to choose excellent students for studies in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Sai Gon Tech has handed over three scholarships, each worth USD 3,000, to three contestants who won first prizes at the secondary school's creative software competition.

The seventh national non-professional information technology competition was held in Ha Noi from July 27-30 with the participation of 142 primary and secondary school students nationwide.

Competitors were tested on their general knowledge of computers and the Vietnamese software on Windows 95 or 97 as well as on their IT problem solving skills. They also undertook programming problems using Turbo Pascal 7.0 or Turbo C 2.0 on Windows, and showed their own creative software products used for training, learning, school management, or entertainment.--VNA
