Over 2.1 million applicants for university and college
Ha Noi, May 31 (VNA) -- More than 2.1 million people have so far this year registered for entrance exams to universities and colleges nationwide, an increase of 12 percent over last year.
The figure does not include applicants to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City conservatoirs, Bac Lieu Teachers' Training College, Ha Tay and Dong Thap Community College, and several cadet schools under the Defence Ministry, the Ministry of Education and Training reports.
The Ho Chi Minh City National University received as many as 86,461 applications and the Ha Noi National University, 52,713 applications.
The number of candidates registering at teacher training colleges remains high with the Ha Noi based teacher training schools receiving 48,000 applications; the Thai Nguyen Teachers' College, 45,440; and the Quy Nhon Teachers' College, 42,000.
Applications to technology universities and colleges are on the rise with the Ha Noi College of Industrial Technology receiving 40,500 applications; the Can Tho University, 45,475; and Ho Chi Minh City's Agro-Forestry University, 38,600.
Some private colleges received large numbers of applications including Van Lang College in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Do College in Ha Noi, and Hai Phong College in the northern port city of Hai Phong.--VNA
