Russian President Vladimir Putin and his entourage left Hanoi on March 2, after a three-day official visit to Vietnam.

President Putin was bid farewell by President Tran Duc Luong, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien and other high-ranking officials.

Addressing the farewell ceremony, President Luong said President Putin's visit had brought traditional friendship and co-operation between the two countries to a new height.

Both parties agreed that meetings between President Putin and senior Vietnamese leaders and signed documents - especially the Joint Strategic Partnership Statement - would create a basis for boosting development of comprehensive bilateral co-operation.

President Putin emphasised that Russia would spare no effort to implement the agreements to meet the aspirations and benefit of the people of the two countries.

Earlier, President Putin and his entourage laid flowers at the War Martyrs Monument and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum. They also visited the Temple of Literature, Van Mieu. (VNA)
