Anniversary of Paris Accord celebrated




Ha Noi, Feb. 2(VNA) -- Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh has described the signing of the Paris Accords in 1973 as an event that set a fully active stage for Viet Nam's diplomacy, thus leading the Vietnamese revolution from one victory to another.

The Vice President was talking with about 50 officials who took part in the peace talks that led to the signing of the historic Paris Accords in 1973. The get-together was held in Ha Noi on Feb. 2 to mark the 28th anniversary of the accords (Jan. 27).

Vice President Binh, who was then Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Viet Nam and led its delegation to the Paris Conference, attributed the victory to the clear-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the great contribution and help from friends in the world.

Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien said the signing of the Paris Accords served as a major lesson for diplomats both now and in the future as it was the result of Ho Chi Minh revolutionary diplomacy.--VNA
