Automatic paging extends services to low-income subsribers

Ha Noi, Nov. 28 (VNA) -- Newly-launched, low-charge automatic paging services known as 1570 network have been snapped up by students, taxi drivers and other low-income people, according to the Viet Nam Telecom Company (VTC).

The new network, which was introduced into Viet Nam last October, provides for dial-up and voice-mail services which enable a person to contact another by either sending a message his/her pager screen or leaving a message on his/her answering machine.

By offering many additional services such as an alarm, reminder or broadcast messages and group services with low charges (just VND 18,000 (USD 1.2) a month for regional coverage or VND 23,000 (USD 1.6) for nationwide coverage and no network integration fees), the new network has been taken up by different groups of people, especially low-income earners such as students, product promoters, taxi drivers and even cyclo drivers, said the VTC's marketing department.

What's more, the new services are provided free of charge to subscribers to the traditional "107" paging network, thus bringing to nearly 50,000 the number of paging network subscribers so far.

The freshly-launched "1570" network has provided free paging services to the fast-expanding network of prepaid VINACARD users, which has gained nearly 200,000 new subscribers since November last year, VTC said.--VNA
