Message of Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien on tragedy in the US

We are so shocked and saddened by the national tragedy that the United States has suffered on the morning of September 11, 2001. The Embassy of Vietnam in the United States has followed the situation closely with deep concern and sympathy as the tragedy unfolds.

On behalf of the Embassy of Vietnam, I would like to convey to the families of the victims and the American people our deepest condolences. President Tran Duc Luong of Vietnam has sent a message of condolences to President George W. Bush and the American people. Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien has sent his condolences to Secretary of State Colin Powell. The Vietnamese Government and people strongly condemn all terrorist acts and stand ready to cooperate with the government and people of all countries in the world against such acts.

I am confident that the American people will overcome the consequences of that disaster.

With profound condolences.

Nguyen Tam Chien

Ambassador
