H.E Mr. Nguyen Dy Nien was born on December 9th, 1935 in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam.

8/2002: Appointed by Prime Minister and confirmed by the National Assembly as Minster for foreign Affairs.

5/2002: Elected Member of National Assembly (NA)

1/2000: Appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs.

1995: Appointed President of the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

1991: Elected as member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the VII Party Congress and reelected at the VIII Congress (1996), and the IX Congress (2001).

1987-2000: Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and President of the Vietnam National Commission of UNESCO

1984-1986: Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs

1980-1983: Deputy Director and Director, MOFA
