During the visit, Ambassador Phung met and spoke with professors and students at the Southeast Asia Studies Program on Vietnam's recent socio-economic development, the success of Doi Moi, or renovation, and on Vietnam - US relations.

The Ambassador hopes that further exchanges between the Vietnamese Embassy and the academic circle will be further promoted during his tenure.

It is one of the Ambassador's top priorities to promote educational cooperation between Viet Nam and the United States. Vietnam has more than 6,000 students in the US and expects this number will be doubled by 2010.
