Stronger U.S. Congress support needed to boost trade

Ha Noi, Nov. 5 (VNA)-- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An has called on U.S. congressmen to work for lifting the Jackson-Vanik amendment with limited trade provisions and unreasonal trade protection against Viet Nam.

Viet Nam acclaims U.S. initiative to boost trade ties

Los Cabos, Oct. 27 (VNA) -- Viet Nam welcomed the U.S.'s initiative to boost trade with ASEAN, considering it as an important contribution to the ASEAN-U.S. economic and commercial cooperation, said Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

During a meeting between U.S. President George W. Bush with leaders from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Los Cabos, the Vietnamese PM highly valued the U.S.'s pledge to support Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Laos to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

VN - U.S cooperation in intellectual property rights

Ho Chi Minh City, Oct. 17 (VNA) -- International intellectual property standards and experiences in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the implementation of the Viet Nam-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement were the topic of a seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City this morning.

The seminar on intellectual property law, policy and management was part of a technical assistance programme carried out through the Star-Viet Nam project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

FOREIGN MINISTER REITERATES VIET NAM'S COMMITMENT TO RENEWAL PROCESS


New York, Sept. 18 (VNA) -- Vietnamese Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien has renewed Viet Nam's commitment to press ahead with the process of renewal and its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance and openness to diversify and multilateralise its external relations.

"The new cabinet approved by the National Assembly at its first session indicates Viet NamẸs continued commitment to the renewal process," FM Nien stressed.

Vietnam and U.S stress framework for long-term cooperation

Washington, Sept. 12 (VNA) -- Viet Nam and the United States pointed out the need to build a framework for their long-term and stable relationship in conformity with interests of the two nations and for peace and stability in the region and the world.

The view was shared during meetings and talks held in Washington from Sept. 9-11 between visiting Vietnamese Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien and U.S. senior officials.

FM Nien paid a visit to Washington on the occasion of his participation in the 57th United Nations General Assembly.

September 11 Memorial service marked in Hanoi

Ha Noi, Sept. 12 (VNA) -- The Viet Nam-U.S. Friendship Association on Sept. 10 held a memorial service for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the U.S.
