APEC Tourism Meeting To Go Ahead in Typhoon-hit Vietnam Town

Despite being battered by Typhoon Xangsane, the heritage Hoi An town is all set to host the APEC tourism ministers meeting from next Thursday, a top Vietnamese official assured.

Dr Tran Minh Ca, vice chairman of the Quang Nam province people’s committee – government – and head of the committee organizing all APEC tourism activities in Vietnam, dismissed rumors the conference would be shifted from the devastated ancient town.

US Treasury Secretary to attend APEC meetings in Hanoi

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will travel to Hanoi, Vietnam to attend the finance ministers meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) on September 7-8.

Secretary Paulson will use this opportunity to expand on the US Administration’s dialogue with the major economies in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to bilateral meetings with his counterparts attending the APEC meetings, Secretary Paulson expects to meet with Vietnamese officials who are leading the country's reform program and integration into the global economy.

Hanoi to host APEC CEO Summit 2006

The summit will provide a good opportunity for business leaders, policy makers and researchers to share experience and devise solutions for promoting investment and economic cooperation among enterprises in the region.

The APEC CEO Summit 2006 under the theme “Towards One Community: Creating New Opportunities for Shared Development” will take place at the National Conventional Center in Hanoi from November 17-19.
