Hanoi to host APEC CEO Summit 2006
The summit will provide a good opportunity for business leaders, policy makers and researchers to share experience and devise solutions for promoting investment and economic cooperation among enterprises in the region.
The APEC CEO Summit 2006 under the theme “Towards One Community: Creating New Opportunities for Shared Development” will take place at the National Conventional Center in Hanoi from November 17-19.
The event is expected to draw the participation of 800 business leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region and the world. The summit agenda comprised of 15 working sessions will focus on promoting creativities for socio-economic development, maintaining economic reform, bridging the economic gaps among APEC member countries and supporting small and medium sized enterprises.

According to President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Chairman of APEC CEO Summit 2006 Vu Tien Loc, on the sidelines of the summit, there will be a forum entitled “Vietnam as the newest member of the WTO” aimed at boosting business and investment cooperation between Vietnam and regional economies.
APEC is a premier economic forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. Its 21 member economies account for approximately 56 percent of the world’s GDP and about 48 percent of global trade.
APEC currently makes up 80 percent of Vietnam’s international trade, 75 percent of FDI and 50 percent of ODA.
