Customs and security fees on foreign flights

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Phan Thuy Thanh on Dec. 5,2000 provided details on a recent decision by the Finance Ministry regarding rates of customs and security fees levied on foreign flights to Vietnamese airports as following:

"On 13 November 2000, the Finance Ministry issued Decision 179/2000/QD/BTC on rates of customs and security fees levied on foreign flights to Vietnamese airports.

According to this decision, foreign organisations and individuals conducting flights to Viet Nam must pay a combined rate of USD 100 for customs and security fees (USD 50 for each fee) for one inward flight.

The following foreign flights to Viet Nam are exempt from these two fees: special flights; flights on official state missions related to customs, military affairs, public security affairs; and flights carrying humanitarian aid and relief goods for victims of flood and natural calamities ... and flights on rescue missions.

This decision is not related to on-flight individual passengers."
