Vietnamese President Holds Direct Talks With Youths
The Communist Party and state always appreciates youth contributions and believes in the young generation, President Nguyen Minh Triet said in a direct dialogue with 700 young intellectuals in Hanoi Sunday.
The dialogue, broadcast live on VTV1, was part of the "Vietnamese youth: dynamism, creativeness, integration and development" program held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on the occasion of the union's 76th founding anniversary and the “Month of Youth” in 2007.
Triet stressed that young people play a special role in the nation's revolutions, and affirmed that they are the country's future. Praising their talents to quickly adapt to new situations and tasks, he expressed his belief that young people will establish their careers and businesses towards a strong Vietnam as is the late President Ho Chi Minh’s dream.
For over two hours, Triet and other leaders frankly answered more than 20 out of 20,000 questions sent.
The State leader laid stress on the important role of young people in the integration process. "Developing human resources, particularly young human resources, is a strategy of the Party and State, especially in the international integration process”.
On the Party and State's determination to prevent and combat corruption and wastefulness, President Triet said, "On the one hand, we have to root out the seeds of corruption and wastefulness, on the other hand, we have to improve the management and leading capacity of our cadres. With the determination of the whole Party, the entire people and army, the combat against corruption and wastefulness will succeed”.
Concluding the dialogue, President Triet said, "The country has become a WTO member- 'Our ship has set sail on the high seas', therefore we must prepare everything to face big waves and strong winds."
Last month, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had an online talk with the public on social and economic issues, solutions for comprehensive development, and the fight against corruption and wastefulness.
