Central Highland Cultural Heritage Display
An exhibition of cultural artifacts of Vietnam’s Central Highlands region opened Thursday in the resort town of Da Lat in Lam Dong province.
The show features sets of gongs with 109 units totally from ethnic minorities in the five Central Highlands provinces, including a set with 22 gongs – the greatest number among the exhibits.
On display are also a Dong Son bronze drum unearthed in Dak Lak province, and artifacts excavated at the archaeological sites of Cat Tien in Lam Dong, Bien Ho in Gia Lai, and Lung Leng in Kon Tum.
The exhibition also showcases a collection of traditional costumes of ethnic groups and wooden statues used to ornament at grave houses according to the customs of many peoples living in northern part of the Central Highlands.
The show at the Hoa Binh Exhibition Center will end May 25.
Also on Thursday, a club of museums in the Central Highlands provinces was set up, aimed to strengthen cooperation among its members in collecting and increasing public awareness of cultural heritage in the region.
