The fourth Buddhism training course opened in Ha Noi


Ha Noi, July 26 (VNA) -- The fourth Buddhism course was opened by the Viet Nam Buddhism Institute at its headquarters, Quan Su Pagoda, in Ha Noi this morning, July 26.

Prominent among those present at the opening ceremony was Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, who is Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha and Rector of the Viet Nam Buddhism Institute.

The 2002-2006 course's teaching curriculum for bachelors is based upon the Education and Training Ministry's programme for training bachelors in social sciences and humanities.

During the course, the trainees will be given lectures on 56 subjects, including Buddhist teachings, social sciences, philosophy, Vietnamese history, and the history of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam Buddhism Institute has trained nearly 300 nuns and monks, meeting the demand for human resources in the development of Buddhism and the nation in the provincial and municipal chapters in the north.--Enditem
