Vietnam seafood exporters reject American catfish CFA accusation
Ha Noi, June 29 (VNA) -- The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) vehemently rejects the American Catfish Farmers Association (CFA)'s accusation that VASEP has dumped catfish in the U.S. market.
VASEP, in its statement released on June 29, affirmed that its members had strictly observed trade regulations of the U.S. as well as international law. VASEP officially announced that it had chosen an international law firm - White & Case - to work as its advisor for the legal case that CFA, on June 28, brought against VASEP for dumping catfish in the U.S. market.
"The accusations made by a number of catfish farmers in some southern states of the U.S. are quite groundless," said VASEP General Secretary Nguyen Huu Dung.
He stressed: "VASEP is ready to work with the U.S. government and the U.S. fisheries sector to find a resolution acceptable for all related parties and end the legal case. However, we are also prepared to protect the just rights of VASEP members and the interests of tens of thousands of Vietnamese farmers involved in the farming of Tra and Basa catfish in the Mekong Delda".--Enditem
