Conoco Hosts Visit by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2002--H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cam, Deputy Prime Minster of Vietnam, met with Conoco (NYSE:COC) executives at the company's Houston headquarters on Saturday to discuss foreign investment opportunities in Vietnam's energy industry. The Deputy Prime Minister is leading a high-level delegation of Vietnamese officials to promote bi-lateral trade with the U.S. and will meet with industry executives and state officials in Texas, Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York during the ten-day visit.
Earlier this month, Conoco Chairman and CEO Archie Dunham met with H.E. Prime Minister Mr. Phan Van Khai and top-level PetroVietnam officials while in Hanoi, as part of an extensive Southeast Asia business trip.
Since 1995, Conoco and Vietnam have been partners in developing a series of successful exploration and production (E&P) projects. Conoco executives reaffirmed the company's plans for continued growth in Vietnam and indicated it will consider new investment opportunities in the oil, natural gas and power segments of the Vietnamese energy sector.
Conoco currently has a $400 million offshore oil and natural gas development underway in Vietnam's Cuu Long and Nam Con Son basins.
