Vietnamese agriculturar products meet safety standards- FM said

On Jan. 11, FM Spokeswoman Phan Thuy Thanh answered question from Quan Doi Nhan Dan: Please comment on a story of the Orange County Register which asserts that "Vietnam uses pesticide in agricultural production which affects Vietnam's agricultural products:?

Answer:

Such remarks are groundless and of ill-intention.

Vietnam has promulgated an Ordinance on Food Protection and Quarantine and a Decree to guideline the implementation of this ordinance. Vietnam also accedes to many bilateral and multilateral international conventions on food protection and quarantine.

All chemicals used in agricultural production such as chemical fertiliser, defoliants, pesticide etc which are harmful to the environment and human health are not allowed to be distributed and used.

Vietnam exports agricultural products to many countries and territories in the world and they are highly valued by Vietnam's partners including the United States for their quality as well as eligibility for food hygiene and safety standards.
