NGOs representatives reject Vietnam Human Rights Act
Ha Noi, Sept.20 (VNA) -- Foreign non-governmental organisations (NGO) in Viet Nam have adopted a joint statement protesting against the so-called "Viet Nam Human Rights Act" passed by the U.S House of Representatives on Sept.6, calling on all U.S senators not to endorse the Act.
At a meeting of the representatives of more than 70 Viet Nam-based foreign NGOs, including those from the United States, participants voiced their discontent with the U.S House's endorsement of the Act, which they described as a rude distortion of Viet Nam's real situation and a blatant intervention into the internal affairs of Viet Nam - a sovereign country.
They also came out strongly against the Act's provision allowing the U.S Government to use NGOs as an instrument to interfere in Viet Nam's political affairs.
They considered this as a move that hurts the honour and prestige of their organizations in Viet Nam and therefore resolutely reject the intention of this Act and demand that the U.S senators refuse to pass this erroneous Act.--VNA
