Gov't supports software human resources development
Ha Noi, May 21 (VNA) -- The Government has agreed in principle to the use of India's loan of 230 million rupees (about USD 5 million) to build two human resources training centres for the software industry in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
A decision to this effect has been signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam.
The two centres will be built by the Ha Noi University of Technologies and the Ho Chi Minh City Science, Technology and Environment Service under the management of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
The Government has also reiterated its resolve to give top priority to developing Viet Nam's fledgling software industry, promoting Internet access, and investing in a highly-skilled information technology workforce.
During his recent visit to the Quang Trung Software Park in Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem also supported the enterprises' proposals to develop human resources with loans from the State.
He pledged that the Government will help resolve capital difficulties, adjust corporate taxation, and provide better IT-related telecom services to local IT companies.
The Government has approved funding of USD 2.5 million for building a training centre for IT specialists at the park. The city plans to increase its pool of skilled IT workers to 50,000 by the year 2005.
The park has so far received State investment of VND 64.5 billion, including VND 10.6 billion for installing telecom systems for accessing the Internet.
Just two months in operation, the park hosts 32 companies employing 300 software programmers. These companies have so far signed 11 contracts worth VND 1.7 billion (USD 110,000) for the development of software products. Another 18 projects are in the pipeline.--VNA
