Welfare projects of US NGOs, UNFPA, Denmark

* Denmark and UNFPA Funds Project on Juvenile Reproductive Health

Young people in Ha Noi and six cities and provinces have benefitted from a project on juvenile reproductive health, which was funded by the Danish Government and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The more than USD 1 million project started in October 1997 and completed early this month. As a result, about 5,000 high-school students were provided with knowledge on reproductive health and tens of thousands of young people in rural areas, reproductive health services, a year.

Further, two telephone consultancy centres were built, providing services to more than 200,000 people. Ten school reproductive health clubs and 50 skills-of-life groups were set up, giving information about reproductive health to 20,000 students and thousands of young poeple in rural areas.

* US NGO Helps Disadvantaged Children in Vinh Long Province
Dillon International, a non-government organisation (NGO) of the U.S., has granted USD 32,000 to a project to help special difficulty children in southern Vinh Long province.
The project will help upgrade the province's Social Support Centre. When completed in June, the centre will be capable of bringing up 30 children.--VNA
