Party and State highly values contributions by overseas Vietnamese scientists

The Party and State always treasure active contributions made by overseas Vietnamese scientists to the development of the country’s science and technology. State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the statement in Hanoi on August 7 while receiving delegates attending the sixth “Meet Vietnam” event.

“Meet Vietnam”, initiated by physicist Nguyen Van Hieu and French physicist of Vietnamese origin Tran Thanh Van, aims to pass the knowledge of physics and basic science research to young scientists and young Vietnamese people. It also aims to introduce international friends to Vietnam’s culture, history and people.

Speaking at the event, which attracted more than 300 domestic and international scientists, Professor James Cronin highly appreciated Vietnam’s potential for science and technology. He said that overseas Vietnamese physicists have actively cooperated with US colleagues in physics research.

Meanwhile, State President Nguyen Minh Triet said the Party and State always attach great importance to science and technology and give top priority to education and training, science and technology in their policies.

President Triet acknowledged active contributions made by overseas Vietnamese scientists over the past years to the development of the country’s science and technology. He also welcomed the participation of international scientists in the event, which he said is imbued with the spirit of solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding among nations.
