Nearly 7,700 enterprises set up in HCM City
Ho Chi Minh City, Jan. 3 (VNA) -- An additional 7,694 enterprises were established in Ho Chi Minh City in 2002 with a combined registered capital of 12,599 billion VND (839.9 million USD).
The figures showed year-on-year increases of 15 percent in the number of enterprises and 28 percent in capital.
Of the newly-established enterprises, 5,297 are limited liability companies with a total registered capital of 7,641 billion VND; 1,778 are private enterprises with a combined capital of 918 billion VND; 605 are joint-stock companies with a total registered capital of 4,000 billion VND; and 14 one-member limited liability companies with a total registered capital of 29 billion VND.
The private sector has made up 37.5 percent of the city's GDP contributing 2,885 billion VND to the State budget last year, a 19.4 year-on-year increase. Its industrial production value was 20,781 billion VND in 2002, an increase of 19 percent over 2001.
In 2001, 6,947 businesses with a total capital of 9,310 billion VND (620.6 million USD) were set up in the city.
In total, about 20,000 enterprises capitalised at 30,000 billion VND (nearly 2 billion USD) have been established in Ho Chi Minh City since the Enterprise Law took effects in 2000.
