Deputy PM Nguyen Tan Dung on outcome of visit to the U.S


Dec. 15 (VNA) -- The most prominent outcome of the recent visit to the Unites States by a Vietnamese Government delegation is that it help promote Viet Nam-U.S. relations, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr. Dung granted an interview to a Washington-based Viet Nam News Agency correspondent at the end of his visit to the U.S. from Dec. 9-14.

Deputy PM Nguyen Tan Dung visits San Francisco

Dec. 15 (VNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung headed a government delegation on a visit to San Francisco on Dec. 13 and 14.

This is the last leg of his five-day official visit to the United States, which also included in New York and Washington.

During his stay in San Francisco, Deputy PM Dung met with Mayor Willy Brown and attended a seminar on prospects for Viet Nam-U.S. economic and trade ties. He also visited the telecommunications company, Intel, in the Silicon Valley.

Deputy PM affirms Vietnam's continued reforms investment climate

Dec. 13 (VNA) -- Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday said the Vietnamese Government considers full realization of the bilateral trade agreement (BTA), which has just been put into force, the centrepiece of Viet Nam-U.S. relations in the near future.

"This will help give economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries a new dimension," said DPM Nguyen Tan Dung.

Vietnam-US agree to build new ties


Dec. 12 (VNA) -- Viet Nam and the United States have agreed to build their bilateral relationship based on respect for independence and sovereignty, and equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of each country, for peace, stability and development in Southeast Asia, the Asia-Pacific and elsewhere in the world.

<B>Vietnam -US Bilateral Trade Agreement takes Effect </B>

On December 10, in Blair House, Vietnam's Minister of Trade Vu Khoan and U.S Trade Representative Robert Zoelick exchanged letters on ratification of Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement. After exchange of the letters, the Agreement immediately takes effect.

Visit to China of Gen. Secretary Nong Duc Manh is a success


Ha Noi, Dec.4 (VNA) -- Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) Vu Khoan on Tuesday described the freshly-ended official visit to China by CPVCC General Secretary Nong Duc Manh as a success. He said, the visit, which began on Nov.30 "has brought about significant results".

Forum to discuss measures to improve investment environment


Ha Noi, Dec. 3 (VNA) -- More than 250 representatives of Vietnamese and foreign businesses, Government agencies, diplomatic corps, and international organizations gathered at a forum held in Ha Noi on Dec. 3 to seek measures to further improve investment and trade environment in Viet Nam.

Vietnam welcomes 2.13 million foreign tourists in 11 months


Ha Noi, Dec. 2 (VNA) -- Viet Nam welcomed 2.13 million foreign tourists in the first 11 months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 9.4 percent, reports the Tourism Administration.

The number of foreign tourists travelling by air and sea in 11 months saw year-on-year increases of 17 percent and six percent, respectively.

Vietnam-China Joint Statement

Ha Noi, Dec. 2 (VNA) -- Viet Nam and China issued a joint statement in Beijing on Dec.2.

The statement reads:

1. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, Nong Duc Manh, paid an official friendship visit to the People's Republic of China from Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2001 at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Zemin.
