FM Khiem meets US, Russian counterparts

(VNA) Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem held bilateral meetings with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of ASEAN foreign ministers meetings with partners in Bali, Indonesia, on July 22.

FM Khiem and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed their pleasure with positive developments in Vietnam-US cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade, security, science and technology, education and humanitarian activities.

Deputy PM Khiem calls for joint cooperation at ARF

(VNA) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem has called for joint cooperation among ASEAN member countries to accelerate endeavours for peace, security, stability and development cooperation development in the region.

Khiem made the appeal in his speech presented at the 18 th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF 18) that took place in Bali, Indonesia, on July 23.

13th NA to strongly upgrade operational mode

New York workshop promotes US investment in VN

VN attains GDP growth of 5.6 percent in first half

(VNA) Vietnam attained a GDP growth of 5.6 percent in the first half of the year, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

In the reviewed period, the country; industrial production value was 418 trillion VND, a year-on-year rise of 14.3 percent and export revenues of 42.3 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent.

High growth in six-month export revenues were seen in apparels, up 28.4 percent; footwear, up 31 percent; seafood, up 28 percent; and rubber, up 17 percent.

Export revenue soars in first six months

(VNA)Total export revenue for the first six months of the year reached 41.5 billion USD, up 27.8 percent against the same period last year, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said in a report submitted to the National Assembly's Economic Committee on June 21.

The increase nearly tripled the target of 10 percent set earlier this year by the National Assembly (NA), the ministry stated in its report.

Export turnover of many products also increased sharply. Rubber topped the list with the growth rate of nearly 96 percent.

Exports to US experience a boost

(VNA) Vietnam earned over 6.15 billion USD from exports of goods to the US in the first five months of the year, an increase of 22.5 percent over the same period last year.

In a freshly released report, the General Department of Vietnam Customs said that with this achievement, the US continued its role as Vietnam ’s largest market for exports, making up 17.7 percent of Vietnam ’s total export turnover.

The five-month export value also saw Vietnam surpass the Philippines and Indonesia on the list of ASEAN exporters to the US .

Two more heritage sites expect UNESCO recognition

(VNA) The Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty of Vietnam are among 37 heritage sites proposed for inscription into the UNESCO World Heritage List as natural and cultural properties.

Addressing the on-going session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Irina Bokova said that the 35th session will examine the World Heritage List, the state of conservation of 169 World Heritage properties and increasing challenges to the preservation of these sites.

VN advocates maintaining peace, stability in East Sea

(VNA) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ho Xuan Son on June 27 affirmed Vietnam’s stance on the East Sea issue, stressing the country advocates maintaining peace and stability on the East Sea.

Son made the statement in an interview with the press on a meeting between he as the Special Envoy of Vietnam’s high-level leaders and Chinese State Councillor Dai Bingguo in Beijing on June 25.
