Vietnam-US AO group makes field trip

(VNA) The Vietnam-US Dialogue Group on Agent Orange/dioxin made a field trip to the heavily AO-contaminated province of Dong Nai province on August 17 as part of a survey for a project to build centres on reproductive health and rehabilitation.

The group was seeking funding for the construction of a reproductive health consultancy centre and a rehabilitation centre for AO/dioxin victims in Dong Nai province’s Dinh Quan district, said Dr Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, a group member.

Vietnam supports US’s APEC 2011 organisation

(VNA) Vietnam supports the US to successfully organise the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2011, said a Vietnamese diplomat.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong affirmed the country’s support during his recent working visit to Hawaii State where the summit will take place in mid-November this year.

Leaders from 21 APEC member economies are expected to take part in the summit, which will be chaired by US President Barack Obama.

Viet Nam rejects statements that intervene into its internal affairs

National Assembly ratifies new cabinet members

(VNA) The on-going 13 th National Assembly on August 3 ratified Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s nomination of Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other members of his new cabinet in the 2011-2016 term.

After the NA adopted a resolution specifying its ratification, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made an inaugural speech, expressing thanks to the National Assembly for re-electing him for another term and for approving his proposed appointment of positions for the 13 th Government (2011-2016).

PM highlights Gov’t key tasks in new tenure

(VNA) Implementing well three strategic breakthroughs set by the 11th National Party Congress is the central task of the Government during its 2011-2016 tenure, stressed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

In his recent article, the Government leader wrote the first breakthrough is to complete the socialist-oriented market economic institution, focusing on creating an equally competitive environment and implementing administrative reforms.

Nguyen Sinh Hung elected NA Chairman

Nguyen_sinh_hung.jpg(VNA) Nguyen Sinh Hung has been elected as Chairman of the 13th National Assembly (NA) with 457 votes, accounting for 91.4 percent, at the on-going first session of the 13th NA.

Nguyen Tan Dung re-elected Prime Minister

nguyentan_dung.JPG(VNA) Nguyen Tan Dung was re-elected as Prime Minister of Vietnam for the National Assembly’s 13 th tenure in Hanoi on July 26, with 470 out of 500 votes.

The 13 th NA also re-elected Nguyen Thi Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, as Vice State President of the 13 th tenure with 476 out of 500 votes.

National Assembly elects new State President

Truong_Tan_Sang.jpg(VNA) Deputies at the ongoing first session of the 13th National Assembly on July 25 elected Truong Tan Sang as State President.

Sang, who is Party Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, won 487 votes, accounting for 97.4 percent of the NA deputies.
