Vietnam supports Palestinians' struggle for national rights



Ha Noi, May 14 (VNA) -- The Vietnamese people have always and will continue to support the Palestinians in their struggle for inalienable national rights, including their right to self-determination.

This support was affirmed recently by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Associations and the Viet Nam Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People in a message of congratulations to the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Council for Peace and Justice.

Central Highlands focus on grassroots health service development

Vietnam supports drugs control in Eastern Asia



Ha Noi, May 13 (VNA) -- The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Public Security to participate in the implementation of two regional projects on drugs control and strengthening the capacity to support drugs control activities in eastern Asia.

The drugs control project, funded by the United Nations drugs control programme, will be carried out in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam for four years.

Vietnam supports UN initiatives on sea development



May 13 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's representative to the United Nations on May 10 voiced support for the UN initiative on international cooperation in sea research and in the fight against piracy.

Addressing a five-day UN consultative meeting on oceanic and sea issues, the Vietnamese representative said piracy has emerged as a global problem and that international efforts are needed to bring it under control.

He shared other delegates' view on the seriousness of the problem and called for closer regional cooperation in fighting it.
