Vietnam actively contributes to ASEAN development



Ha Noi, July 23 (VNA) -- Viet Nam has actively joined activities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) since it became a full member of the assocation six years ago.

The country's participation in the regional grouping has contributed to ensuring the latter's fundamental principles, preserving and bringing into play solidarity, stability and development within ASEAN as well as between it and the rest of the world, and unceasingly raising ASEAN's position in the international arena.

34 th ASEAN Ministerial meeting opens in Ha Noi



Ha Noi, July 23 (VNA) -- The 34th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM-34) was opened in Ha Noi this morning, July 23.

The two-day AMM-34, is being attended by delegations from all ten ASEAN member countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, East Timor and Papua New Guinea.

Laos' PM B. Vorachit visits Vietnam



Ha Noi, July 18 (VNA) -- The visit to Viet Nam, which began on July 18, by Lao Prime Minister Bounyang Vorachit is of important significance in preserving and boosting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.

Vorachit's visit, which took place right after the visit to Laos by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, CPV CC, early this month, is his first overseas trip since he took office in March this year.

Vietnamese students at int'l Olympiads



Ha Noi, July 18 (VNA) -- July is a month of joy and pride for Vietnamese students. This year they brought home five gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals from international Olympiads of Russian language, maths, chemistry, physics and biology.

Policy of level ground for foreign investors


Ha Noi, July 17 (VNA) -- The Government will issue a regulation to help attract more foreign investment by creating a level ground of operation between foreign investors and those of other economic sectors, said a Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc added that the Government is to apply the single price policy later this year. The move will cover the fees for registry and examination of means of transport, sea port charges, advertisements on mass media and entrance fees to historic and revolutionary sites.

Vietnam took part in IV Francophone Games

July 17 (VNA) -- Viet Nam has been elected to the leadership board of the Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of Francophone countries (CONFEJES) at the organisation's irregular session held in Ottawa, Canada, from July 13-16.

Viet Nam and Mauritius island represent Group 7, comprising of Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Asian countries, at the 15-member leadership board.

Viet Nam officially joined the CONFEJES in February this year.
