WB: Vietnam’s economy becomes more stable

Vietnam’s economy is gradually entering a more stable macroeconomic environment after a prolonged period of heightened turbulence, said a World Bank report.

The third session of the National Assembly’s 13th tenure, began in Hanoi on May 21. 

National Assembly to approve 13 bills at third session

The third session of the 13th National Assembly will open on May 21, and is expected to approve 13 draft laws and seven resolutions, and comment on six other bills.

Vietnam launched second satellite

Vietnam ’s second satellite, the VINASAT-2, was successfully sent into orbit from Kourou in Guyana , South America, at 5:13 am on May 16 ( Vietnam time).

ESCAP: Vietnam to grow at 5.8 percent in 2012

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has forecast the Vietnamese economy will grow at a rate of 5.8 percent in 2012 and the country’s inflation rate is likely to fall back to single digit by the second half of the year.

FDI disbursements top 3.6 billion USD in four months

Disbursement of foreign direct investment (FDI) hit 3.61 billion USD in the first four months of this year, representing a modest decrease of 0.3 percent against same period last year, according to Foreign Investment Agency statistics. 

 

U.S. Congressional Staff Delegation's visit to Vietnam

A 10-member U.S. Congressional Staff Delegation visited Vietnam from April 7 to 15 2012. Delegation members are chiefs-of-staff or senior legislative, professional and trade staffers from both the Senate and the House of Representative.
