VIET NAM WELCOMES 1.73 MILLION FOREIGN TOURISTS IN 10 MONTHS


Ha Noi, Nov. 3(VNA) -- Viet Nam welcomed 1.73 million foreign tourists in the last ten months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 17.8 percent, according to the Viet Nam Tourism Administration.

Hence, the country's plans to provide services to about 2 million foreign tourists this year is within reach.

Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese travelling to other countries saw rapid increases as costs of tours of Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and China dropped between USD 20 and 100 per tour.

As many as 100 groups registered to travel into Viet Nam from November this year to April next year at an international eco-tour fair held in Reunium, France, recently.

In addition, a set of textbooks on tourism was introduced to university students for the first time. It was compiled with assistance from the Luxembourg Government.

Activities are underway to accelerate implementation of the National Tourism Action Programme, to uprade key tourist sites and creat more favourable conditions for visitors to reach this year's target.
