Viet Nam Embassy in Washington D.C celebrates 25 years of Viet Nam - US diplomatic relations

On July 28, Viet Nam Embassy in Washington D.C organized a virtual ceremony chaired by Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Ha Kim Ngoc to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Viet Nam - US diplomatic ties. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), Congressman Ted Yoho (R-Florida) were the Guests of Honor at the ceremony.

Viet Nam is importing more coal from West Virginia, the United States

The first direct shipment of American coal is planned to depart for Viet Nam this September. This shipment will include more than 100 thousand tons of coal mined from West Virginia.

Commercial flights connecting Viet Nam and several destinations in Asia to resume from mid-July

The Government of Viet Nam has approved an Initial Plan to resume commercial flights to several destinations in Asia. Accordingly, from the middle of July 2020, Viet Nam will resume a number of flights to Guangzhou (China), Taiwan (China), Seoul (South Korea), and Tokyo (Japan) with a frequency of 1 to 2 flights per week per route. Airports for departures and arrivals in Viet Nam include Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang International Airport.

Joint Statement of the Special ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The Heads of State/Government of the Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the People’s Republic of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, held the Special ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019  (COVID-19) via videoconference on 14 April 2020. The Summit was chaired by H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Viet Nam, in his capacity as the Chair of ASEAN.

Important notice on the Embassy’s schedule

From May 31, 2020, The Embassy's Chancery at Suite 400, 1233 20th St NW, Washington D.C. 20036 will open from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm & from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday. All activities on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday would be conducted under the telework policy. All consular services will be provided at the Consular Division of the Embassy. Hours of operation: from 9:00 am to 12.00 pm & from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc had phone call with congressman Ami Bera

On May 21, 2020, in Washington DC, the Viet Nam Ambassador to the United States Ha Kim Ngoc had a telephone conversation with Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Nonproliferation to discuss Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Partnership and bilateral cooperation in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vietnam contributes to ASEAN-US cooperation in trade, finance

In a recent working session in Washington between ASEAN countries’ ambassadors to the US with representatives of the US Trade and Development Agency and the Export - Import Bank of the US, Vietnamese Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc highly valued the ASEAN - US strategic partnership, adding that Vietnam attaches great importance to its comprehensive partnership with the US.
