Nov. 1(VNA) -- President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Cu Thi Hau attended the 14th session of the Presidential Council of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) held in Kuwait between Oct.28 and 30.

The session drew the participation of more than 50 delegates representing trade union organizations in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and international agencies.

Addressing the session, VGCL President Cu Thi Hau, who is also Vice President of the WFTU, noted that in the current situation, trade union leaderships should bear a major responsibility to gather workers in the struggle for their fundamental rights relating to employment, living conditions, democracy and social equality in each country.

She said that trade union organizations should encourage forces to strive for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, and to fight poverty, unemployment and unjustice.

the WFTU Vice President stressed that solidarity of the working class and international trade union organizations was a positive way to limit negative impacts of economic globalization.
